Find the right gym near you
See the real monthly price, including the sign-up fee and service charge, not just the advertised teaser price. Free & independent.
Fitness: Classic gyms, EMS, CrossFit, women's gyms, equipment circuits, Power Plate, health studios and public outdoor fitness areas.
Classes & Movement: Yoga, pilates, dance schools, martial arts and supervised group training. A gym that runs classes belongs under “Fitness” instead.
Rehab & Health: Health and rehab studios, swimming pools and cryotherapy chambers.
We only award the Fair Score to classic gyms and EMS studios. For every other type of studio, what they offer differs so widely that price would not be a fair yardstick. You still see them, just without a score and without a price ranking.

Why the advertised price is rarely the real one
Almost every gym advertises its base rate. On top of that come a one-off sign-up fee, semi-annual service charges. Across Germany the real cost therefore averages 43,91 € per month instead of the advertised 40,70 €. Over a year that adds up to roughly 39,00 € that appear in no advertisement.
Fair for Fitness spreads these items across the contract term for every studio we record, producing an honest monthly price: the effective cost. That way you know what training at a gym will really cost before you sign up. Ranking is based on that figure alone. Placements are not for sale, and no money from studios influences the order.

Frequently asked questions
- What are effective costs?
- The effective cost is the true monthly price of a gym including every fee: the base membership plus the joining fee and service charge, spread across the full contract term. A teaser price of, say, €19.90/month quickly becomes a real price of around €25/month.
- Is Fair for Fitness free?
- Yes. It’s completely free to use and needs no sign-up. We’re independent and never reorder studios in exchange for payment.
- Is Fair for Fitness the same as fair-fitness.com?
- No. Fair for Fitness (fair-for-fitness.de) is an independent price-comparison site for gym memberships, not a gym chain. We don’t run any studios ourselves; we compare every provider’s prices neutrally by effective cost.
- How many gyms do you compare?
- Our map covers over 30,400 locations in Germany, over 17,000 of them with their own website (56 major chains plus thousands of independent studios). Over 6,800 studios have a verified price on file. Of those, over 4,900 enter the effective-cost ranking, because we only compare gyms, women's gyms and EMS studios with each other and list yoga, pilates or rehab separately.
- Where do the prices come from?
- From the providers’ publicly available rates. Every figure is recorded with a date and source; we explain the exact calculation transparently on our methodology page.
- Does Fair for Fitness also help with cancellation?
- Yes. With our free cancellation generator you can create a legally sound cancellation letter for your gym in just a few steps, including the statutory notice periods under Section 309 No. 9 of the German Civil Code (BGB).
- How do I find an affordable gym near me?
- Enter your postcode above or start the map search. You will see every gym near you with its true monthly cost, and you can filter by price, contract length and features such as sauna, 24-hour access or EMS training. That way you find the gym where regular training also makes financial sense.
